SEASONS

SPRING

An awaking from winters slumber, a time of renewal in our valley. Deer arrives with their fawns to nibble on the fresh grass. Wildflowers show up and Canadian Geese arrive at the village lake to spend the summer. Springs may also bring picture postcard snows that rarely last more than a day.

SUMMER

A time to immerse yourself in the Rockies, fishing, picnicking, biking, and hiking in the mountains. Long sunny days, perfect weather. Mid-July to mid-August we have short afternoon thunder showers that bring out fresh pine scented mountain air.

FALL

The mountains get all dressed up…aspens turn to gold…the scenery is at its most magnificent. The weather is sweatshirt warm during the day and fireplace cold at night. All attractions are open. Our favorite time of the year.

WINTER

A little of everything; from getting away from it all in front of the fireplace with a good book to ice skating on the village pond to walking up to the falls to see the ice sculptures it creates. Take the cog train to the top of Pike Peak, ski and board at Breckenridge, a 1 hour 20-minute drive. The house is fully decorated for Christmas. All streets and highways are cleared of snow whenever there is an accumulation of 3 inches. Four-wheel drive, or two-wheel drive with chains available, is highly recommended when in Colorado during the winter.
